The 1975 Thunderbird includes all of the Ford Motor Company Lifeguard Design Safety Features as standard equipment
1975 Thunderbird instrument panel shown in Copper
Thunderbird's standard instrument panel (above) is well thought out. Controls for headlamps, SelectAire, and Rear Defroster (if equipped) are located to left of steering column. Wiper/Washer, Cigarette Lighter, Radio, Right Remote Control Exterior Mirror, and Power Antenna (not shown above) are to the right. Speed Control switches are on the spokes of the steering wheel. Warning lights are conveniently located along the top edge of the panel, and other warning lights (some optional) are grouped together by the air register to the right.
1975 would be the peak for standard equipment on the base Thunderbird. Never again during the classic period would so many features be provided as standard equipment, excluding special models such as the 1977 Town Landau, 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition, and 1979 Heritage, which provided a high level of luxury equipment over and above the base model.
