DIAMOND JUBILEE EDITION

Split Bench Seats with Luxury Cloth and Thunderbird Insignia; Ultra Soft Leather Seating Surfaces also available in Interior Luxury Group sew style

The 1978 Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee Edition included unique interior and exterior features not found on any other 1978 Thunderbird. The split bench front seats had their own biscuit sew style with Thunderbird designs on the seatbacks. Plush 36-oz. cut-pile carpeting was also included.

Available in just two colors to coordinate with the exterior shades, the Ultra Soft Leather was added late in the model year, and featured the Interior Luxury Group sew style on the seats instead of the biscuit sew style.

Optional Thunderbird vinyl roofs could be ordered to match the body paint color, or contrast it for a dramatic effect, as seen below:

VINYL ROOF

1978 Thunderbird vinyl roof codes consist of two digits. The first digit is a letter identifying the type of vinyl roof. All 1978 Thunderbirds use "Y" as the first digit, which designates Valino Grain vinyl material, 1/2 vinyl roof style.
