1. February 23, 2010: Changes have been made to the AM server to compress data before sending. Most newer browsers automatically request compressed data when asking for a file (page). Older browsers do not ask for compressed data, and do not receive it so this change shouldn't present any issues for most visitors. 2. February 14, 2010: Site services stopped for about 1.5 hours to rsync old server hardware with new hardware. 3. February 12, 2010: After analyzing the server hardware, the decision has been made to replace it with all new hardware. The server setup is currently underway, and migration of the site will begin once everything has been setup and tested. We expect any downtime to be minimal. 4. February 10, 2010: Site recovery after being down on Monday, February 8 through Tuesday, February 9th. 5. February 8, 2010: Server issues continue. We're not certain what seems to be causing all these problems suddenly, but our techs are working on it. Might be time for a new server, we'll keep you advised. Our apologies for the down time. 6. February 5, 2010: Our server was taken offline and restarted this morning, due to an ongoing sporadic issue with high server loads, which cause the site to respond slowly at times. 7. January 30, 2010: We are experiencing intermittent high server loads, which can result in slow response when loading pages and/or images. 8. UPDATED |
1. This change was completed and implemented on Monday evening, February 22nd, 2010. Our testing has shown significant reductions in file sizes being transmitted, and a much improved load time for end users. We appreciate your patience during our server repairs earlier this month, and the new server hardware is allowing us to make additional improvements to the site. 2. Migration of site to new hardware complete; server appears to be operating as expected, with low server loads and fast response time. Site functions and files will be watched for any issues. Thank you for your patience during this period of server issues. 3. We will keep you advised. 4. Full explanation of down time on AM Blog. 5. Technicians working on this issue now. Update: A bad drive in the server RAID array has caused the server to go read-only. Repairs are underway. 6. Server restart is complete, and technicians are continuing to monitor server load and scripts to identify what is causing the ongoing issue. Our apologies for the inconvenience. 7. Our technicians are monitoring the server, and will attempt to identify the process(es) that are causing the high loads. Corrections will be made once identified. Our apologies for the inconvenience. 8. We are in the process of updating the menu code to provide more stable results. This is being done on an ongoing basis, so the menu should be available to more visitors in the coming weeks. Update: Completed - February 7, 2010. |
