Privacy Statement for Automotive Mileposts
Automotive Mileposts has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for this Web site: AutomotiveMileposts.com.
Information Automatically Logged
We use your IP address to help diagnose server issues and to administer our Web site. Automotive Mileposts utilizes various site tracking programs and/or services that collect information on our visitors. This information is used solely to determine site popularity, traffic patterns, screen resolutions, browser types, referrers, etc. This enables us to enhance and improve the site for our visitors. Server-related logging of information is never provided to third parties.
Cookies, Web Beacons, and Third Party Advertisers
We utilize third party advertising on AutomotiveMileposts.com to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology including cookies and web beacons, which allows these advertisers to obtain information about you, including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This information is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing ads specific to a certain city or state), or showing ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing automotive-related ads to someone who frequents automotive sites).
DART cookies through Google's DoubleClick ad network may be placed on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (which includes some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests, based on your browsing history, which is known as "interest based targeting." (For example, if you have been viewing sites about photography, you may see camera or photography-related advertisements when viewing a site on another subject, such as an automotive site). DART uses only "non-personally identifiable information." It does NOT track any personal information about you. (This means things such as your name, e-mail addresses, physical address, phone numbers, social security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers are NOT tracked.) You can opt-out of this type of ad serving on all sites using it by visiting the Privacy page on the DoubleClick site. (Look for the "Ad Cookie Opt-Out" link).
You may chose to remove, disable, or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in your firewall or anti-virus program. However, doing so may affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other Web sites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts. Please refer to your browser or firewall supplier's Web site or documentation for specific information on managing cookies.
You should also understand that deleting cookies on your computer does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have browser settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running advertisements, a new cookie is likely to be added.
Cookies received with third party advertisements are collected by those companies, and we do not have access to this information.
This Web site requests personal information when you join our mailing list, forum, or fill out forms to submit to us. Any information collected that personally identifies you or allows you to be personally contacted is done so solely to maintain and service our mailing list or forum function or to verify or clarify the information you submitted to us on the form. As a precaution, we verify E-mail addresses before adding them to our mailing list. All new subscribers must respond to an E-mail verifying they wish to be on our mailing list, prior to being added to the list. When you click the "Submit" button on a form, we log your IP address, as well as other personally identifiable information, as a security precaution to prevent unauthorized use of our scripts and resources.
This Web site features a section with listings of cars for sale. The majority of the cars listed for sale on our site are owned by other parties. When you request additional information about a car for sale, the personal information you provide us (your name, E-mail address, etc.) may be forwarded to the seller, so they can respond directly to you. If you are selling a car on our site, by submitting your ad information to us you agree to your contact information being published on the Internet, so that interested parties may contact you directly, according to your contact information, which was provided by you on the online form you used to place your ad. If you have made special arrangements with Automotive Mileposts to respond to inquiries on your behalf, your contact information will not be published, but may be given to interested parties inquiring about your car for sale, as a means to close the sale.
AUTOPOSTS Classic Car Forum collects personal information that allows us to administer our forum. This information is not available to other forum members, nor is it available online. (We have disabled the "Members List" function of the forum software to protect the privacy of all forum members.)
Except as stipulated above, we do not share personal information with any third parties, nor do we use your personal information for any purposes other than those stated in the paragraphs above. (See Public Forums below.)
This site contains links to other sites. Automotive Mileposts is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.
This site makes chat rooms, forums, message boards, guest books, blogs, and/or news groups available to its users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. All E-mail messages are scanned by real time virus programs, which are updated continually. If you contact Automotive Mileposts, any information you provide will be secured behind a firewall, or on equipment that does not have access to the Internet.
As a further protection, we have the ability to track parties that might attempt to hack into our system, and we do report this type of activity to ISPs.
