The 1974 Imperial interior was perhaps its most elegant and luxurious ever. Standard interiors included a Ribbed Velour Cloth and Leather 50/50 divided front seat with individual adjustments and armrests. The pillowed upholstery style was most comforting and was as comfortable as the finest chair in one's home. On 4-Door models, the passenger side reclines, and on 2-Door models there is an automatic seat-back release. A folding rear center armrest is provided for the comfort of rear passengers, as were thick, built-in foam pillows in the sail panels with reading lamps and on 4-Door models, lavaliere straps to aid entry and exit.

The instrument panel and side paneling is graced with simulated Brazilian rosewood, and plush cut-pile carpeting covers the interior floor and lower door panels as well as the trunk area and spare tire. A roomy, comfortable, and elegantly appointed interior has always been a traditional Imperial luxury, but even by past Imperial standards, the 1974 interior was spectacular.
