The 1977 Ford Thunderbird was a much changed car. Now a mid-size, the T-Bird
was shorter, lighter, and less expensive than the 1976 Thunderbird. It retained distinctive styling that was unique, and set it apart from
all other cars. The new Bird was more fuel efficient than its predecessors,
and offered virtually any luxury option imaginable. The Town Landau model
name from 1966 was resurrected and became a trim package that included
almost every option offered as standard equipment. A special brushed stainless
steel band wrapped over the roof on this model, giving it a very distinctive
appearance. The changes made were popular, as 1977 would be Thunderbird's
best sales year to date.
