This is your year. Make a little Thunder of your own. New Luxury Group options joined the long list of equipment new T-Bird owners could specify on their 1974 Ford Thunderbird. A Burgundy Luxury Group as well as a White and Gold Luxury Group were available, each featuring specific interior and exterior color combinations. A gas shortage hit at the beginning of the model year, and sales suffered because of it. Wire wheel covers, a power glass Moonroof, and a Quick Defrost windshield and rear window with gold-colored glass also all appeared for the first time as options. For the first time since 1970, the Thunderbird no longer included full-width tail lamps at the rear. A large back-up lamp was placed in the center of the tail light strip, and it featured a Thunderbird emblem on it. 1974 was also the first year for the 5 mph impact-absorbing rear bumper system. |
