Thunderbird for 1972 was a much changed car. The 1972 Ford Thunderbird was the first of what were the largest Thunderbirds ever built. They were
very similar to the Continental Mark IV, and were more luxurious than ever. Generally regarded as sportier than
the Continental, the T-Bird retained many of its distinctive features,
including wall-to-wall tail lamps and simulated S-Bars on cars equipped
with the optional alligator-grain vinyl roof, but gone forever were the
coved rear seats and sequential turn signals.
