With a front end shaped to slice through the wind, the 1970 Thunderbirds
were longer than ever before. Thunderbird would retain this frontal appearance
for only 2 years. Contemporary magazine test drives described the handling
of the 1970 Thunderbirds as "uncanny." More quality control procedures,
fewer vacuum and electrical connections, and the Mark III sound insulation
package made this one of the most reliable and dependable T-birds ever.
