1969 Ford Thunderbird Tudor Landau
with Power Sunroof
The 1969 Thunderbird offered the sun, the moon, and the stars with its new Power Sunroof option.
Pressing a button opened and closed a metal panel centered over the front
seat area, making this the first T-Bird since 1966 to provide a fresh air
feature for its occupants. This expensive option wasn't a big seller, making
survivors rare today. A few 1967 Thunderbird Apollo models were specially built for Abercrombie and Fitch, and they all featured
a Power Sunroof, but 1969 was the first time this particular option was
offered by the factory on a Thunderbird, and only the 2nd time in the T-Bird's
history that a sunroof was available.
Other notable new options for 1969 included Sure Track Anti-Skid Brakes
and Electric Defrost rear window.
Items of interest recently listed on eBay include a full set of NOS Styled
Steel Wheel Covers in Brittany Blue (still in boxes), as well as NOS grille
emblems, taillight lenses, power window switches, rocker mouldings, and
more.
