The 1966 Thunderbird introduced quite a few new options, including Highway Pilot Speed Control
with controls mounted within the spokes of a unique steering wheel, as
well as StereoSonic Tape System that was integrated with the radio in the
console, and played 8-track tapes producing true stereo sound through 4
door-mounted speakers. The overhead Safety-Convenience Control Panel (a
standard feature on Town models only) was new, too, as was the optional
428 345-horsepower V-8 engine. |
