1973 Buick Riviera sales remained disappointing, despite more extensive rear styling changes to minimize the "boat tail" appearance. To many, the 1973 Rivieras are the best looking of this body style.

More changes would come next year, but sales would not improve dramatically, which at least vindicated the boat tail design.
