1956 would be the final year for the traditional Packard automobile. Later models would be heavily facelifted Studebakers, and while they still bore the magical Packard name, they didn't capture the hearts of many car buyers, and the nameplate that had always stood for elegance, class, and affluence quietly vanished from the scene.

Packard did produce a beautiful show car, the 1956 Packard Predictor (shown below), that was a huge hit when it appeared at the 1956 Chicago Auto Show.
