1954 PACKARD
Packard...the name that's in the news!
The line above appeared in a 1954 Packard advertisement. Was it an ominous
peek at the near future? Packard would indeed be in the news a great deal
over the next few years.
Beautiful new styling and a long overdue V-8 engine made the news in 1955,
but sales slipped badly in 1956, and the 1957 cars probably shouldn't have
even carried the Packard name.
The 1958 cars sold even worse than the '57s, and production ended on July
13, 1958. The Studebaker-Packard name carried on until 1962, but no automobiles
were built bearing the Packard name.
