The 1974 Imperial was completely new. The front end was somewhat reminiscent of the Continental Mark IV, due to the concealed headlights and front turn indicators in the leading edge of the front fenders. A gorgeous new waterfall grille gave the Imperial an elegant and distinctive look. The profile was as sleek as ever, but the fuselage look the Imperial had displayed since 1969 was replaced by a sharper, more razor-edged look. These changes made the Imperial look quite youthful, and exuded a sophistication and class few other cars on the road could touch.
