![]() The 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado would go down in history as the end of a significant and once popular body style—the convertible. After 1968, the Eldorado Convertible was the only luxury convertible built by an American manufacturer, and the only convertible built in America for 1976. To commemorate the end of this era, 200 identical 1976 Eldorado Convertibles rolled off the assembly line at the end of the production run. All were painted white, with white convertible tops and white leather interiors. Red provided the accent color, and was used on the pinstripping, instrument panel, steering wheel and column, and carpeting. Cadillac Division kept the actual last convertible for itself, and prices on all 1976 Eldorado Convertibles went through the roof for a time. Convertibles are once again popular in America, but 1976 was not a year of celebration for die hard convertible enthusiasts. |
