The completely redesigned 1971 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado was available in two body styles for the first time ever. Joining the restyled Coupe was a sleek new Convertible, a body style that hadn't carried the Eldorado name since 1966. It was the only luxury convertible built in America at the time, and featured an inward-folding Hideaway Top which allowed a full-width rear seat to be fitted. It was also the first convertible to feature front wheel drive, variable-ratio power steering, and automatic level control, and it was powered by the largest motor ever provided in a production car to date, the powerful and durable Cadillac 500 cubic inch V-8. An elegant new Coach Window appeared on Coupe models as a standard feature. |
