The all-new 1957 Chrysler 300C provided additional cooling to the front
brakes via a rectangular opening below the headlamps, which directed a
flow of fresh air through a concealed duct to the front brakes.
The rear tail fins were referred to as rear stabilizers by Chrysler, and
were promoted as providing additional stability at high speeds, which resulted
in fewer steering corrections.
Early production cars gave the assembly line fits with poor fit and finish.
So numerous were problems that Chrysler management actually stopped production
for 3 weeks so additional time was available to adequately address the
issues!
A convertible was added to the line for the first time this year, and only
484 were built. 1,918 hardtops hit the road as well in 1957, for a total
production of 2,402 cars.
